On October 16-17, Mogilev region will hold the Republican seminar on “Transboundary routes similar to the trade route from the Varangians to the Greeks” excursion tour”, deputy head of Mogilev region executive committee’s department of physical culture, sports and tourism Victor Stepanov told.
The seminar’s participants will study tourist infrastructure of Mogilev city, Mogilev district and Shklov district; the will visit archeological excavations at Polykovichi (Mogilev district), Lysaya Gora in Shklov’s vicinity, and do sightseeing at Shklov and Alexandria agritownship (Shklov district).
Belarusian scientists, specialists of the Ministry of sports, and tourism, and departments of physical culture, sports and tourism of Mogilev city and region executive committees, as well as representatives of Bykhov and Shklov district executive committees will discuss a number of matters dealing with working out transboundary routes similar to “the trade route from the Varangians to the Greeks”.
Transboundary routes similar to the ancient ones is a topical issue for both Mogilev region and Belarus, Victor Stepanov assured. Local authorities, tourist agencies, groups of initiators, should join their efforts to create and develop tourist infrastructure: moorings, bivouac and camping grounds, catering facilities, etc. Thus, a kind of cluster pattern will be worked out to promote both domestic and outbound tourism.
