Rabies rate in Mogilev region went down in first six months of 2016

In the first six months of 2016 Mogilev region witnesses the 4.5-fold decrease in rabies rate. The information was provided at Mogilev region centre for hygiene, epidemiology and public health.

 One rabies case was registered in Mogilev (a homeless cat was found at a private house at Lupolovo), while in 2015 there were 3 rabies cases). Within the first six months of this year 3 foxes infected with rabies were registered in Mogilev region (comparing with 15 cases in 2015).

"Unfortunately, wild animals happen to get to settlements, thus domestic animals and their owners are at risk of being infected. This year 4 people needed medical help after having been bitten by animals infected with rabies", specialists summed up.

Rabies is one of the most dangerous infectious diseases caused by a specific virus carried by an infected animal. Not only a bite, but also saliva of infected animals is dangerous.
