Remains of military pilots to be reburied in Mogilev district

The remains of military pilots will be reburied at Makarentsy village of Mogilev district today. As much as 70 years had passed before Belarusian and Russian volunteers managed to identify the pilots' names: Usman Akhmadulin from Kazan, Vladimir Pavlovsky (was born in Orsk of Chkalov region, and drawn to colour from Tashkent), and Vasily Marusenko from Lebedenko village of Kransnoyarsk region (drawn to colour from Kemerovo region). They had been listed as failed to return from the military mission on June 7, 1944. Marusenko was 22 years old, the others were 24.

During the war locals found the remains of the pilots and buried them at the rural cemetery. The obelisk with inscription "Commemorating the pilots perished during the Great Patriotic War" was erected there in peace-time. A new monument will be solemnly unveiled at the same place tomorrow; it will have the accurate information: "On June 7, 1944 a dive-bomber crashed here", and the names of the buried heroes will listed.

The monument has been sponsored by the locals concerned. The pilots' relatives have been invited to partake in the solemn ceremony, but unfortunately they will not be able to arrive that day, Mogilev historian Nikolai Borisenko told. But one of the last commanders of № 10 independent reconnaissance wing of the 1st air force Vladimir Leonardovich Ryabov will come to the ceremony. The dive-bomber crashed not far from Makarentsy village belonged to № 10 independent reconnaissance wing of the 1st air force, the 3d Belarusian front.
