Remains of three soldiers who died 200 years ago to be re-buried in Soltanovka

About Br400 mln was spent for reconstruction of the chapel at Soltanovka village of Mogilev district. On July 11, there will be held celebrations dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the Patriotic War of 1812, including cross procession and reburial of remains of three soldiers who died during the War of 1812, deputy chair of Mogilev district executive committee Valery Elenski told.

The soldiers were identified according to remains of bullets, buttons, neck crosses, two of which were presented to the museum at Daskovskaya school.

The battle at Soltanovka village between the Russian troops under general Raevski's command and the French troops under marshal Davout’s command took place on July 11, 1812. To commemorate its 100th anniversary a chapel was built at the battle place in 1912. A hundred years later the chapel was reconstructed (funds were granted by Mogilev district executive committee). The nearby territory have been improved and beautified, the chapel’s façade was painted, a new roof was made where a gold-plated Orthodox cross will be put on July 10, Valery Elenski specified. The dome and the cross are being made by “Belrestavratsia” enterprise in Minsk.
