The International scientific conference "The Dnieper Frontier: summer of 1941" is held at the Belarusian-Russian University on July 1. The event is timed to the 75th anniversary of Mogilev defence, a source at the organisation committee of the conference.
More than 60 scientists, historians, students, University teachers from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine will partake in the conference.
Four sections will work, but the topic of the city's heroic defence and great deeds of its defender will be the major one. Participants will discuss both well-known and unknown historical facts, chronology and periodization of the events. They will also try to give scientific explanation of the long-term defence of Mogilev city, and the impact it had on the combat activities in Moscow direction. Much attention will be paid to the problem of methods of teaching the history of the Great Patriotic War", the source specified.
By the way, on July 1 the conference participants will attend the ceremony of solemn unveiling of the memorial to Colonel Semen Kutepov. He was the commander of rifle regiment № 388 that took part in the city's defence in the area of Buinichi Field.
The conference is organised and coordinated by the Belarusian-Russian University, the Russian cultural and educational society, Mogilev region historical and patriotic club "VIKKRU", Mogilev city executive committee, and the Russian Federation Embassy in the Republic of Belarus.
