Belarusian State Agriculture Academy (Gorki Township) put into operation the second turn of the largest fish hatchery in Belarus. The information is provided by Gorki Academy.

The module to breed valuable marketable young fish of under 5 kg weight is already working. July launched the module for spawn incubation. To test the technology the pools of the modules were filled with sample quantity of valuable marketable fish, sturgeon mainly. The third module of the hatchery for young fish to get extra 50 gr of weight is to be completed by September, 14.

The hatchery will get a closed circle for incubation and breeding valuable marketable fish. The capacity of the hatchery will make 3 million fishes a year. It hatchery will provide a base for an aqua culture science and practice centre. Here ichthyology and fishery students will get their practical training. Specialists will improve their professional skills.

The hatchery will use the Finnish technology of closed-loop water supply. It is a new industrial aqua culture trend. Its advantage is in breeding all kinds of fish all year round. The equipment makes it possible to cut water expenses and reduce mixed fodder consumption, to grow plants in the integrated environment, to get ecologically safe products, to support favourable water measurements.

The project is aimed at developing and improving fishery in Belarus and Mogilev region. Young fish will be sold to fishery enterprises that experience shortage of valuable marketable young fish.

The hatchery is constructed by the building of the Academy’s ichthyology and fishery department and is attached to the latter by a roofed gallery. The project costs about Br50 bl of investments and is a part of the State Fishery Program for 2011-2015 at the state budget expense.
