The Parliamentary Assembly of the Russia-Belarus Union State will promote the recognition of independent South Ossetia, Assembly First Deputy-Speaker Nikolai Cherginets told South Ossetian Parliament Speaker Naur Gassiyev on Thursday.
"We have come here to take a look at the situation in South Ossetia and to draft concrete proposals for the Assembly administration. We aim for the promotion the recognition of South Ossetia as a sovereign and independent state with due power attributes," he said.
Assembly Executive Secretary Sergei Strelchenko offered Gassiyev to assign observers to the Assembly.
"We offer you to become observers at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Russia-Belarus Union State. Probably, we could form a union state involving South Ossetia," he said.
The Assembly delegation came to Tskhinvali on Thursday morning.
