Mogilev Region's farms have almost completed the spring sowing campaign, Interfax learnt from the regional committee for agriculture and foodstuffs.
As of May 21, they sowed crops on an area of 345,800 hectares, exceeding the target by 7.4%.
Grain crops were sown on an area of 151,000 hectares, corn - 111,000 hectares, flax - 10,500 hectares, rapes - 7,400 hectares. Local farms also planted potatoes on an area of 4,000 hectares and sowed 48,000 hectares of perennial grasses.
This year Mogilev Region is expected to grow 1.1 million tonnes of grain crops, 1.06 million tonnes of potatoes, 7,400 tonnes of flax fibres, 270,000 tonnes of potatoes, 35,000 tonnes of rape seeds.
