Bobruisk-based Syabar Brewing Company has completed the upgrading program, Director General Ella Klimyuk told reporters on Tuesday.
According to the source, Heineken N.V. invested EUR 6 million in the program, which helped the co considerably improve the quality of beer.
Currently the production capacity of Syabar is 1.2 million hectolitres, and in 2009 it is expected to reach 2 million hectolitres, the director added.
90 farms of Mogilev Region will sell their brewer's barley to Syabar this year, and two farms will provide the company with barley seeds. With the average yield of 35 centners per hectare (6,400 hectares), they are expected to fully satisfy Syabar's demand for brewer's barley.
Syabar Brewery CJSC JV (previously known as Belarusian Brewery CJSC JV) was registered in February 2004. The company was set up by Detroit-Belarus Brewing Company LLC (DBB Company), whose founders are American investment group Detroit Investment Ltd. and the International Finance Corporation, and Dednovo OJSC (Bobruisk, Mogilev Region).
In December 2007 Heineken N.V. announced the acquisition of the Cypriot holding company of the Syabar Brewery.
