Privatization in Belarus will be used as highly precise tool, the President Lukashenko said at a press conference in Minsk on Thursday.
"We made it clear for ourselves: as long as I am a president, we shall not have an overall privatization. It will be an individual process," Lukashenko said, adding that "those Belarusian enterprises that we cannot cope with will be privatized".
The president also said that the Belarusian leadership "will not refuse from the strong social policy in the country," whatever the circumstances, including those related to higher energy prices.
"During the crisis it was proposed that I increase the gas price for the population, but I strongly objected. You must not upset people if there is still a chance to sort it out," the Belarusian president said.
