Total volume of taxes levied to regional budget from business sector made up 27% in 2009

Total volume of taxes levied to the regional budget from business sector made up 27% in 2009, i.e. BYR16.6 bln increase compared to the previous year, - the chairman of Mogilev regional executive committee Peter Rudnick told during the annual meeting with regional businessmen. Among the leaders are Mogilev, Bykhov, Bobruisk districts, in which the rate makes up 50%, 40%, and 37.4% respectively.

According to the governor, small and medium enterprises contribute to increasing effectiveness of regional economy, promote competition and creating new jobs, as well as growth of production and development of service sector.

There were 6824 profit-making organizations in Mogilev region by January,1; it means 12.4% increase compared to the respective period of last year. 11 000 new jobs appeared in that sphere; in total 79 000 people are employed there, i.e. 15% of all employed in the sector of economy.

Belarusian state and executive committee support development of business in the region. Thus, businessmen arehanded over inefficiently used buildings, or are welcome to buy them at the price of 1 basic unit at auction. During 2007-2009 all in all 389 such buildings were sold to businessmen, and 37 were handed over for the free use. “70 investment projects are being carried out at these institutions, and 400 new jobs appeared”, - the head of the region stressed.

At the same time there is much space for businessmen to support regional authorities, for example – help attract foreign investments into districts and rural areas. In 2009 regional budget took part in carrying out 15 investment projects, 10 of them – in small towns. 100 more are thought for the year 2010, 70 of which – in districts.

“It is the minimum figure. For the region to be perspective, it must steadily follow innovative way of development, actively implement scientific projects into process of production. 5-10 modern industries must be opened on the region in 2010, being aimed at increasing exports, using local raw materials. Such projects will be given “green light””.
