The main task of young prisoners of the war who saw all the horrors of the war is to tell the historical truth to young people so that they understand the price our country paid for the Great Victory. Vladimir Parakhnevich, Chairman of the Mogilev Regional Association of Young Prisoners of War, said about it at the meeting dedicated to Day of the Liberation of Nazi Camps.
In his words, we need to tell about everything that took place in those horrible years so as not to have this repeated.
Zinaida Penkova, deputy chairman of Mogilev city council of delegates, said that April 12 Mogilev holds a special event at the Mogilev Cultural Center. The young Mogilev residents will present their gifts to the people born in the time of the Great Patriotic War. The event will gather prisoners of the Nazi camps, persons born in the time of war, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, and workers of labour fronts.
Mogilev held the meeting to mark Day of the Liberation of Nazi Camps. The event was held near the War Children Memorial. Representatives of the regional and city authorities, public organizations, former prisoners of the war, war veterans and the youth have gathered to observe a minute of silence and pay tribute to those who survived. They lay flowers and wreaths to the monument.
International Day of the Liberation of Nazi Camps was established following the UNESCO decision to commemorate the international uprising of war prisoners at the Buchenwald concentration camp in Germany.
