Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko demanded equal terms for all parliamentary candidates at the Minsk conference on the upcoming election.
"All the candidates must have equal access to the media, so that they could not accuse us of creating preferential terms for some candidates and unfavorable terms for others," Lukashenko said.
"The so-called opposition is waiting for the authorities to harass them because they can't win. They will have to explain their failure to sponsors. People will vote them down. So, create terms equal for everyone," he said.
The election campaign must be very transparent and democratic, the president said. The election must strictly comply with the Belarusian constitution and laws, he said.
Belarus will elect members of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly on September 28, 2008.
