Mogilev Region has seen meat and poultry sales grow by 8.9% in live weight terms in January-February 2008 to reach 17.5 thousand tonnes, Interfax has learnt from the regional authority on agriculture and foods.
Livestock sales have grown by 15.5%, poultry 6.6%, pork 2.6% down, the officials informed.
Also, Mogilev farms produced 85.1 thousand tonnes of milk (12.3% up) and 43.7 million eggs (11.7% up).
Agribusiness enterprises of Mogilev Region earned a net profit of BYR 5.6 billion in January 2008, 69.3% up on the year. At the same time, seven companies (2.8% of the total number) ended up the month with losses, the net loss totaling BYR 209 million.
The return on sales in January 2008 totalled 8.4% against 6% in January 2007.
