The telephone switchboard capacity in Mogilev Region expanded by 1,927 numbers in Q1 2008 (212.9% of the quarterly target), Interfax has learnt from the regional administration's department for transport and communications.
Town-based automatic telephone exchange stations saw their capacity rising by 1,372 numbers, while in rural areas the rise made 555 numbers (198.8% and 258.1% respectively).
Fixed-line phones were installed in a small village of Mogilev Region where telephone communication had been unavailable until recently (14.3% of the yearly target).
Currently there are 541 telephone stations in Mogilev Region, including 262 digital ones. Over the past decade their capacity expanded by 113,000 numbers (92,700 in urban regions and 20,300 in rural areas).
