The net profit of Mogilev Region transport companies rose BY 64.4% on the year in 2007 to BYR 15.1 billion, Interfax learnt from the Department of Transport and Communications of the regional administration.
However, three transport companies based in Mogilev Region (2.5% of their total number) ended the period with a net loss of BYR 306 million.
The return on services of transport companies rose by 1.7 percentage points on the year to make 9.3%.
In January-October 2007 Mogilev Region automobile transport handled 12.2 million tonnes of cargoes, or 8.1% up on the year. Rail freightage totaled 37,697,500 tonnes (1.9% down).
The rate of transportation of passengers by bus grew 0.9% (121.6 million passengers, including 32.6 million transported by private carriers).
