The unemployment rate in Mogilev Region fell by 0.4 percentage points in 2007 to 1.1% as of January 1, 2008, the regional employment service told Interfax.
As of late December 2007, the number of the unemployed stood at 5,600 people, specified the source. 69.1% of the unemployed are women. 61.7% of the unemployed get allowances, the source reported.
There were 1.1 unemployed persons per one vacancy registered with the state employment agencies (1.9 as of early 2007). The total number of vacancies was 5,078 as of January 1, 2008. 78.3% of vacancies were manual labour jobs.
In January-December 2007 state employment agencies assisted over 27,200 people in finding a job.
Over the period in question there were created 18,073 new jobs in Mogilev Region.
