Retail trade turnover in Mogilev Region totalled BYR 1.7 trillion in January-June 2007, which is 14.1% up on the year, Interfax learnt from the department of trade, public catering and consumer services of Mogilev Region Administration.
The value of foodstuffs sold made BYR 935.1 billion, non-foods - BYR 704.8 billion, which is 11.2% and 24.7% up against 2006 respectively.
Public catering companies sold BYR 73.5 billion worth of goods in H1 2007 (13.4% up).
As far as foods are concerned, meat and poultry sales in Mogilev Region expanded by 7.5%, cheese - 12%, vegetable oil - 18.7%, confectionery - 11%, soft drinks - 15.6%, canned fish - 15.7%, juices - 37%.
As for non-foods, Mogilev Region saw an increase in sales of footwear - 45%, detergents - 25%, refrigerators and freezers - 11.7%, bicycles and motorbikes - 68.6%, knitwear - 37%.
As of July 1, 2007 the stocks of ready-made goods stood at BYR 230 billion, which ensures 39 days of trade, the specialists specified.
