Over five thousand children from Mogilev Region were sent abroad for health rehabilitation services in January-June 2007, Interfax learnt from first deputy head of the regional education department Nikolai Streltsov. The host countries were Italy, Germany, the UK, the USA and Spain, the source specified.
The total number of children that will get medical services abroad this year is expected to reach 15,600, he said.
Most of these children are residents of nuclear polluted areas, orphans or members of socially unstable families.
The source reminded, that Mogilev Region also offers health rehabilitation services for kids. These services are provided by 135 all-day and 450 day-time camps. The regional budget allotted BYR 513.4 million for the corresponding purposes this year.
