St Nikolai’s Nunnery

Lots of pilgrims arrive at the nunnery to honor the memory of St Onufriy the Great and St Martyr Nikolai II, the last Emperor of Russia.

The nunnery that re-opened in 1991 contains the Cathedral of St Nicholas the Wonder-Worker (with an icon of St Nicholas and parts of his relics) and the Church of St Onufriy the Great. Other relics kept in the nunnery include a portrait of Nikolai II and a copy of the icon that witnessed the sufferings of the last royal family of Russia shot in Yekaterinburg.

The nunnery also contains a stone brought from the house in Yekaterinburg where the royal family spent their last days of life.
