«М@rt.contact». Fifth Day. “Mistras”

The fifth day of the International Theatre Forum «М@rt.contact - 2014» presented the performance “Mistras” of the Small Theatre of Vilnius (Lithuania). The performance is directed by Rimas Tuminas and is based on the play Marius Ivaskevichus. The play says about the last years of Adam Mitskevich’s life in Paris. Nevertheless, the centre of the performance is not the poet but a mistras – a mystic of the XIX century and Mitskevich’s teacher Andrzej Towianski who pretended to be a prophet and saviour. The performance includes evangelic parallels, satiric sketching of Parisian bohemia, thoughts about freedom of creative work and self-identification of a person who loses his native land.
