According to the regional epidemiologists, a wild winter has reduced the number of patients with respiratory infection by 20% (comparing with last year). At present only 1% of the region’s population are ill with respiratory infections. The region has not registered flu cases yet.
Within the first two winter weeks no one fell ill with flu in Mogilev region. This year’s sickness rate of acute respiratory diseases is 30% lower than a year ago.
As usual, the majority of the infected – 60% – are children. In November there were two cases of flu, epidemiologists say. Influenza epidemic is supposed to happen at the end of January.
State pharmacies are ready for the epidemic f flu. Mogilev region has got two-three-month reserve of medicine to prevent and fight flu and virus infections. There is also enough supply of medicine face masks. There are 61.000 medicine face masks at the pharmacy storehouse only.
The campaign of free anti-flu vaccination is completed in Mogilev region. More than 300,000 people (27.9% of the region’s population) were immunized.
Last week 8,000 cases of acute respiratory infections were registered in the region. The majority of infected are children. the price for fee-paying vaccines vary from Br30,000 to Br 180,000.
