Several thousand guests to celebrate Maslenitsa in Bobruisk

Bobruisk will gather several thousand guests to celebrate Maslenitsa (Pancake week). The town will hold the dramatized performance “Maslenitsa is arriving, spring is coming”. 11 theme grounds will welcome Bobruisk residents and guests.

Mogilev will celebrate Maslenitsa festival on March 1 with folk rites and burning of Winter scarecrow. Open air festivities will be on from 12 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 40 Let Pobedy square, the correspondent of the site was told by the representative of Mogilev city executive committee's ideological work, culture and youth matters department Elena Mezhenina.

Orthodox believers started Maslennitsa festivities

Maslennitsa week during which Orthodox believers start preparations for the Great Lent has started. Maslennitsa performs the same function as the carnival in western countries. Different street festivities, games & entertainments are traditionally held during the week.

2.5-m high scarecrow will be burned during Maslenitsa festival

2.5-m high scarecrow will be burned during Maslenitsa festival (folk Belarusian festival) at Pechersk forest park, the festival’s director Natalia Klepcha told a correspondent of the site on February 25. Singing and dancing in a ring will start at 11 a.m. One may buy tasty pancakes at affordable prices.

Maslenitsa week (folk Belarusian festival) is on. Its final stage will take place at Pechersk forest park on March 5, - the correspondent of the site was told by the festivals’ director Natalya Klepcha. It includes singing and dancing in a ring, meeting The Gaspadar (Master) and the Gaspadynya (Mistress), traditional seeing Winter off and welcoming Spring.
