Oxana Menkova, an Olympic champion of Beijing-2008, set a new Belarus record for hammer throwing (78.69 m) during International track-and-field championship held in Minsk to commemorate the Belarusian athletes. This year it has been the second time when the sportswoman renewed the national record.
June, 12 Oksana Menkova, the winner of the Olympics-2008, took part in the athletics tournament for Olympic champions’ prizes to repeat her record in hammer throwing. The result she showed at the Staiki tournament is 78 m 19 cm repeats her achievement dated by April, 29. Elena Matoshko got a silver medal (76 m 56 cm), Olga Tsander – a bronze medal (70 m 33 cm).
April’s tournaments in hammer throwing made Belarusian sportsmen applicants to get a title of the Best athletes of Europe. The information is provided by the Belarusian Atheletic Federation.
