The school ethnographical museum at State Educational Establishment «Polianinovichy educational – pedagogical secondary school – kindergarten complex» has been working since 2008. It is the only depository of our ancestors’ heritage on the territory of Obidovichy village council. Here you can see unique  things from peasants’ everyday life, such as  an authentic stove with wooden hem, a wooden homemade bed, a sofa (kanapa) , a table.There is also a loom, clayware, a spade for baking bread, millstones and many other things which peasants used in their everyday life.

Project aim

Transformation of the school ethnographical museum so as to make it   part of modern educational environment, to introduce interactive methods, to increase the attendance and to organizе on its base a more effective system of work on patriotic and civic education of students, to increase their interest in the history of their native village, in the life of their ancestors.

Project objectives

1.To organize the research work of the school students in the framework of the school club “Folklore heritage” and other after school events.

2.To modernize the school museum with  modern equipment (touch screen with audio and video accompaniment)

3. To take video and audio of the tour of the entire exposition of the museum to create a multimedia exhibit on the school website and thus facilitate the research work.

4.To make cosmetic repairs of the museum premises.

Detailed description of the project activities in accordance with the objectives

1.To acquire and install the equipment that will allow to implement interactive educational techniques in order to increase interest to the museum exposition.

2. To ensure sustainable attendance and to revive the interest to the renovated museum.

3. To create a virtual tour of the entire exposition of the museum.

4.To enlarge children’s knowledge of the authentic things represented in the museum exposition.

5. To schedule the system of work with the interactive expositions in accordance with calendar holidays.

6. To carry out interesting interactive quests, to take virtual tours and to conduct interactive lessons.

7. When making cosmetic repairs of the museum premises, to replace the windows, to cover the walls with wallpaper, to paint the floor, to buy furniture for displaying the exhibits.

Project background

School ethnographical museum is the centre of civic and patriotic education not only of school, it can become a cultural centre of the local village council. There is a unique exposition of old village tools, national costume elements, houseware, tableware, furniture from nearby villages in our school museum. It is a most important cultural institution which helps to preserve cultural and historical heritage. This project will make it possible to use the museum display more effectively. Its development prospects are based on the interest of the school students in the local history studying which is a positive trend of our time and is also the best ground for the civic and patriotic education at school. The school museum is integrated into the educational process, it is related to teaching  definite subjects, after school activities and life of the local community. A child who knows the history of his native village and region, everyday life and hard work of his ancestors, the history of the local architectural monuments    will less likely go vandalizing. That’s why, we believe that school museum   is a very effective means of upbringing. It can also help to involve students in research and project activity.

Post-project activities

The renovated and improved museum will  become an educational centre with new possibilities.

Organization and conducting of workshops, debates, round tables, excursions for students, parents and teachers, celebrating national holidays and other cultural events connected with local culture are supposed to attract the attention of the villagers and guests.
